Why book an engagement session?

Are you recently engaged and thinking to yourself, ‘Is an engagement session really necessary? Why should I book one anyway?’

Allow me to shed some light on this incredible opportunity to not only get some beautiful photos of you and your boo - but also on this moment when you can feel more confident in front of the camera and get to know your photographer a bit more before the big day!

The Golden Opportunity

So many couples go their entire dating relationship without taking professional photos together. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good selfie! But taking engagement photos together could be your opportunity to get some stunning photos walking on the beach at sunset. (Or whatever your dream photoshoot setting may be!)

Now, I know what you might be thinking, professional photos are scary and I’m awkward in front of the camera. Maybe this isn’t you, maybe you thrive in this setting. But if the former is true, have I got a surprise for you!

The number of times I hear from clients going into a shoot that they are nervous or uncomfortable getting their photo taken is large. And just so happens to be the same as the number of clients who delight in the experience and results of the session after the fact.

It is the job of your photographer to help you look your best in front of their lens, so sit back and let them take the wheel on this one. I promise you the results will be better than you imagined - you’ll be like, “hold on, am I a model?!?”

Getting comfortable in front of the camera

During your engagement session, your photographer is going to do everything in their power to make you as comfortable as possible.

One way to do this is to avoid heavily rigid poses - I find it helpful to move around, play games, and create fun prompts for my clients.

This helps to break people out of their shells and really explore - through that exploration comes the candid, real, and authentic feelings of love that you share with your partner.

A recent client felt so this exact sentiment so much, that she left the following review, which showcases exactly how successful these efforts can be:

“Sarah was AMAZING. My fiancé and I are not photogenic people, however, Sarah made us feel so comfortable. Our pictures are beyond words! They are so beautiful and so genuine. I am obsessed with them and cannot wait for our wedding day!”

Meet your photographer

The engagement session is an incredible opportunity to not only meet your photographer (possibly for the first time), but also really get to know them and even become friends! That hour to two hour session opens up so many possibilities for growing a relationship with the person who you are entrusting to capture the most important day of your life. I’d say that is a pretty big deal!

Photographers work extra hard on a wedding day to capture your love story through the little and big moments on your day. So getting to meet you and spend a full session capturing your engagement photos prior to your big day makes such a huge difference in getting to know you as a couple and your story leading up to your wedding day.
